GALE GARNETT AND THE GENTLE REIGN: Sausalito Heliport (Columbia CS 9760)

• Condition : SEALED. Small cutout drillhole to cover corner.
• Description : Rare sealed 1968 orig of Garnett's second (and final) psych-rock era outing with her band Gentle Reign. The first one (An Audience With The King Of Wands) is OK but this one turns out to be something of an unheralded classic. If this music turned up as a private pressing or UK-only obscurity it would be selling for multi-hundreds. I suspect over the years people were turned off by the very dated six-minute music hall / comedic number which leads off the LP. Once that goes past we get plenty of organ, fuzz guitar, very trippy and catchy pop-rock numbers and Gale's lovely vocals. Someday collectors will catch up with this one! Oh, that dated comic number which starts off the LP is actually pretty funny, it takes the form of some rock & roller's middle-aged folks lecturing him about how he's gone wrong by leaving his plumbing-supply manager gig to play in a group called "Double Pneumonia"...the parents' dialogue is done with perfect New York accents by Garnett (who is actually Australian) and, I suppose, another band member, with the mother complaining "Why are you stealing my diet pills? You already weigh 125 pounds!" and the father asking "Why can't you be more like your brother Paul with his nice home in Queens...we think you need to have a talk with someone, we think you need to go see Doctor Vogelscheiss" (this last bit being a joke in German...) This will be on '360 Sound' labels when opened, there was only one press run as it didn't sell at all back in 1968.

• I do not end auctions early. No offense, but if you ask, you will not receive a reply, sorry.
• Please do not ask me to email you with a list of every song on an LP. If you are looking for a specific song, inquire with the name of the song, I'll check ASAP to see if it's on the LP and reply promptly, but I don't have time to type out the names of every track, sorry to say. Also, sorry but requests from underbidders along the lines of "I didn't win, could you A) dub the record to CD for me B) ask the high bidder to dub the record to CD for me or C) give me the winner's email so I can ask" are ignored due to legal and privacy concerns.
• I have been selling records via mail order since 1989. Bid with confidence!
