(UK TRANSATLANTIC, TRA 197, 1969)
Nice copy of this RARE Zappa album! Early UK pressings of Mothers albums are hard to find but this is by far the rarest in my opinion! This does NOT come with a booklet, most UK pressings did not have booklets, only some of the very early ones came with imported booklets from the US pressing and some also came with a slightly different booklet which was made for their European tour, but that's another story... In the States, Bizarre were distributed by Reprise but when the UK headquarters of Reprise (who were distributed by Pye here at the time) heard this album they freaked out and refused to release it, due to the swearing on some of the dialogue. Transatlantic were the only label that were prepared to release it, and thank the Lord they did! It is a beautiful pressing, and sounds great, and the grooves are also banded, unlike any other pressing of this album. It sold in very small numbers over here at the time, and was not repressed again until years later. There was only one pressing on the Transatlantic label! This is becoming harder and harder to find now! Don't miss out!
Vinyls are in EX+ condition : both discs have one or two light marks but overall are in beautiful shape
***YOU WILL NOTICE THAT I HAVE UPDATED THE VINYL GRADING FOR THIS PARTICULAR AUCTION - THAT IS BECAUSE I HAVE LITERALLY JUST PICKED UP A NICER COPY, THE PRESSING IS IDENTICAL (THERE WAS ONLY ONE PRESSING ANYWAY) AND THESE DISCS ARE IN MUCH NICER SHAPE THAN THE ONES I HAD ORIGINALLY PUT ON HERE***
Gatefold sleeve is in EX- condition : in beautiful shape for it's age, one of the best examples I have seen in a long time, has some light creases, the spine is almost perfect apart from one or two creases, there is some light ring wear on the back and light imprint from the discs on both sides, the bottom edges have some light wear, the top edges are fine, the inside looks nice, the only flaw being some writing below the lyrics to The Uncle Meat Variations (see pic) hence the downgrading, would otherwise be EX
