FOXY 9003 & 9004: DUKE ELLINGTON Newport Jazz Festival 1959
Happy New Year! Welcome to the continuation of our listing of scarce Ellington LPs. Please note that today's listing will be the last in this series. We are presuming that most Ellington collectors who would be interested in these will have some details of these issues. So to speed up listing and offer the maximum number of records, we have kept each individual listing as brief as possible. INFORMATION: This scarce Italian 2LP set was one of several on this label presenting ultra-scarce material. The relevant concert took place on July 4th 1959 with, unusually, Jimmy Rushing guesting with the band on several numbeers. Some of this material was issued by Emarcy but for most of it, this remains the only standard vinyl issue.
CONDITION/DESCRIPTION: The discs are E+ (VG++) with some very light marks only , visible under a bright 'grading' light. The plain gatefold cover is also E+ (VG++), with very minor corner damage and surface scratching/rubbing/shadowing. On the back, in the top right hand corner, there is a small white price tag with "60-" written on it.
