DESCRIPTION

Ella Fitzgerald - “Lullabies Of Broadway” Decca Records DL 8149 (Mono) from 1955. Hard to find Original Deep Groove Flat Rim First Press of this great Female Jazz / Pop Vocal album from the legendary Ella Fitzgerald. This album is actually a Compilation of tracks recorded between 1945 and 1955 and (mostly?) released as 78s, features lots of her trademark Scat singing. On the Deep Groove Black with Silver Print Decca Labels and in the Original Cover with No Cutouts, Promo markings or Barcode.

CONDITION

The Sleeve is in nice shape. There is some slight basic shelf wear and corner softening. There is a little bit of a crease in the lower right corner and about a 1/2” of a split at the opening edge there. There is either some residue from a sticker or possibly a faint stain on back in the upper right corner. Still very solid with no writing, tears, cutouts, etc. and I would rate it as at least VG and probably better. The Vinyl is in clean Glossy condition looking lightly played. If you look closely you can spot a few slight scuffs and faint hairlines. Plays pretty much EX to Near Mint all through except for a small section of 10 repeated tics on the 1st song on Side-2 - nothing very distracting - and maybe a couple random crackles elsewhere. I’m calling it VG+ to account for the slight flaws but plays WAY better overall and might be improved by a better cleaning than I can give with my Discwasher brush. The Labels show a couple faint spindle trails but are otherwise Near Mint.

Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. I provide Play Grades as a courtesy but only guarantee the Visual Grade. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:
Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less!
