Description

Four Tops - `Shake Me Wake Me (When It's Over)', MOTOWN DEMO 7"

ORIGINAL DEMONSTRATION COPY .

UK  PRESSING.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Label : Tamla Motown

Catalogue No: TMG 553

Released 1966

Mono

Vinyl Condition : EXCELLENT. Visually the vinyl looks great, with only minute visible marks and it plays without serious faults. There is very minor background wear and very minor static in a few places. At the start of side 2 there is a little crackle for the first 20 seconds of playback. Overall the record plays well without jumps and sound great in mono.

Label Condition : VERY GOOD. Slight rubs around the spindle hole, a little wear generally and the owners name is written neatly on both sides.

`Shake Me Wake Me (When It's Over), b/w `Just as Long As You Need Me'. - both Holland-Dozier-Holland, produced by Holland and Dozier.

This is the UK original demonstration copy of the Four Tops seventh single, their fifth for Tamla. The usual version is rare, but this is an incredibly scarce demo version. It has a white label with black text and a large red A on side one, which denoted to DJs which side to play. The label is also marked `Demonstration Record. Not For Sale'. The actual date of release (18.3.66) is marked on the centre of the label. These records were only available in highly limited numbers to key radio stations to secure airplay before the record was released, and were never sold commercially.

The price for the standard copy of this record is based on the Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide mint condition value of £28. However, demo version are worth many times more as very few were issued.
