Flex Your Head TEST PRESSING Minor Threat Dischord RARE
DESCRIPTION: This is a very rare test pressing of the DC Hardcore compilation LP, "Flex Your Head", in mint condition. Dischord Records, (Dischord No. 7), Washington, DC, 1982. "Flex Your Head" was Dischord Records' first LP, after having put out six 7" EPs the previous year. The bands on this sampler included The Teen Idles, Untouchables, State of Alert (S.O.A.), Minor Threat, Government Issue, Youth Brigade, Red C, Void, Iron Cross, Artificial Peace, and Deadline. This test pressing was intended for radio stations and fanzines, but was never sent out. Record is in its original paper inner sleeve (which has definitely yellowed with age), with 8 1/2" x 11" xerox glued to the paper inner sleeve. Xerox is original, from 1982, and is copy of right half of back cover art for "Flex Your Head", showing track listing. Test Pressing is inside plain white cardboard sleeve (purchased from Nashville pressing plant) with "7" handwritten in upper right-hand corner by Jeff Nelson to denote Dischord No. 7. Record itself has Nashville Record Productions label on one side (with handwritten in-house catalog number), and strange label on the other side (looks to be an offset from some other record's label, so partially legible type is all reversed).
CONDITION / PROVENANCE: Record is in absolutely mint condition, and has never, ever been played. It has been kept in a plastic sleeve away from light and dust for the last 27 years (same with the tour poster and small flyer). As I was taking the record out of its paper sleeve (for the first time since 1982), the 8 1/2" x 11" xerox with all the band names came unglued from the inner sleeve. I took photos of the front and back of xerox and of inner sleeve, so you could see the old glue and see that they were originally together. Then I very carefully glued the xerox back onto the inner sleeve using nice acid-free glue. Now it looks exactly as it did before I took the record out to photograph it. This record is unconditionally guaranteed to be original, from 1982. It came from my (Jeff Nelson - Minor Threat/Dischord Records) punk archives, which are being downsized after continuing to be described as "too big" and "insane" or containing "more than my potential kids or grandkids will ever want." Please see my auction for lots of other punk/hardcore flyers and records as well as other jetsam I'll be putting up for sale......
