ITEM FOR SALE
Just now and again, within the record collectors world, something special comes along, this album is one of those times and a special that you very rarely see. So here is your opportunity to grab this super rare UK progressive rock album. Pressed in 1970 on Pye Lable NSPL.1834, the record itself is in near pristine condition. However before I grade just a little information regarding this gem.
INTRODUCTION
Before 'The Strawbs' Dave Lambert’s psychedelic band Fire is only known for their hit single, Father’s Name is Dad, but there was something different about this band when they released this lost concept album. The Magic Shoemaker is undoubtedly a slice of progressive psychedelic musical history, featuring heavy guitar sounds, bass, and drums along with some folksy crisp along with Dave Lambert’s narration. This is the sound of progressive rock that would make the fans very appreciative of Lambert’s vocals before he became a Prog-Folk singer, and began to realize how damn good his arrangements really were. Whilst Lambert's voice is exceptional, his guitar sound is phenomenal and with Bob Voice’s shattering drumming brings the Fire sound to the forefront as does Dick Dufall’s bass work. Sadly soon after the Magic Shoemaker was released, the band decided to call it a day, however they did reunite in 2007 to perform the album for a live version.
CONDITION
My photos will tell the story, however the sleeve is in excellent condition with no major flaws. The only criticism are there is some wear to corners, and along spine and top/bottom edges. I am therefore grading sleeve as excellent (ex). The sleeve does not do justice to the record which is in superb condition, side 1 has no spindle marks whatsoever, and the playing surface in near mint condition, side 2 has 1 very feint spindle mark and again the playing surface is near mint, this record is in absolute exceptional condition, and I can guarantee the new owner will not be disappointed. Overall grading (ex/ex) (nm/nm).
SLEEVE/RECORD GRADING
I take great pride in accurately grading records, my feedback is testament to this accuracy, furthermore to give potential buyers a more detailed description of records, I grade both sides of sleeve and both sides of record. This gives a more accurate assessment of the overall condition of item. Sleeve is always graded first, any inserts are graded seperately. 45rpm singles are graded as a & b sides, sleeves are not graded (unless otherwise stated) but are deemed to be in a reasonable condition as seen from photograph. All photos are of the actual item you are purchasing.
POSTAGE & PACKAGING
LP's sent in purpose made cardboard mailers with two sheets of corrugated cardboard to protect item. To protect sleeve all LP's are removed form sleeve and packaged alongside item, this prevents LP damaging sleeve in transit.
