French Acoustic Pathe 1622 thru 1649
Complete opera on 28 records
This is a set of 28 Vertical cut "Disque Pathe" acoustic records from France. They require the standard Pathe sapphire ball stylus for playback. The work was originally recorded in Paris in 1912 and issued on center start, etched label discs. This set is a slightly later edition with edge start paper label discs, and includes a mixture of brown and black labels. A few of the records have an owner's index sticker on the label. Artists include Leon Beyle, Andre Gresse, Jean Note and Pierre Dupre among others. The records range in condition from v+ to e-.
These acoustic Pathe sets of complete operas are a milestone in early operatic recordings and are rarely found complete. We will be listing several similar complete opera sets this week including La Favorite, Carmen and Faust. Don't miss them, as they are important additions to any early operatic library.
