FUNKY DONKEY is an ultra-rare document from the BLACK ARTISTS GROUP (BAG) archives, led by saxman LUTHER THOMAS. BAG was essentially the SAINT LOUIS equivalent to CHICAGO´s AACM (Art Ensemble Of Chicago) with whom they shared one prominent member, trumpeter LESTER BOWIE. The musicians met for this unique Live-recording to perform a monsterous full force free-funk session, very much in the vein of BYARD LANCASTER´s "Funny Funky Rib Grip" recording on Palm or his "Rip Grib"- and "Philly Funk"-tunes on Bellows.
This record includes:
FUNKY DONKEY (18:15) and "Una New York" (18:12)

BE SURE TO BID ON THE ORIGINAL RELEASE FROM 1977 (although the sessions were already recorded in 1973)!!
C_o_n_d_i_t_i_o_n_s:
COVER: thick cardboard sleeve w/ only minimal signs of storage wear, spine & seams solid, name of previous owner written at upper right corner on back >>> EXCELLENT+ (very nice shape)
VINYL: minor scuffing, minimal signs of having been played (NO scratches) >>> EXCELLENT+ to NEAR MINT (plays & sounds great)
LABELS: clean, except for a "3" written on A-side-label)
I HAD TO LIST THIS SCARCE RECORD WITH A REASONABLE RESERVE AS AN ORIGINAL PRESSING (WHICH YOU ARE BIDDING ON!) IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND IN SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SHAPE!
