FREE / PAUL KOSSOFF: KOSSOFF/KIRKE/TETSU/RABBIT
This is the excellent self-titled one-off album from some of the members of Free from 1972, but with a difference. I had always thought that this LP sank without trace and was deleted after the 1st pressing. Not so. This is a copy I picked up in the mid 70s which was obviously from a subsequent pressing, probably dating from 1976 (see label scans).
This is truly a rarity and a must for serious Koss enthusiasts. I have never, in all my years of collecting Free related items, seen a copy of KKTR on this version of the Island label. Since so many years have passed since it was pressed (probably in very low numbers) it may even be unique.
The other great thing about this copy is that it is in the same great condition now as when I acquired it - very near mint. There is little noise, if any, except that introduced during manufacture - there is no noise which might be attributed to lack of care. There is no groove wear. I have only ever played this LP on top quality turntables. If you could go back to 1972 and buy a new copy then it would sound like this one! If there is any part of the LP which you would like to hear for evaluation, please e-mail me and I will record it for you (serious bidders only please!). The labels are clean and there are no spindle marks.
The cover has been kept in a heavy duty PVC cover since I bought it and is Mint minus. Minor defects as shown on scan. Ring wear is only evident by the Island logo and (very very faintly) at the top/rear. The inner sleeve is the original Island records one (the black ones from the mid 70s) and is mint.
This item will probably never come up for grabs again, particularly in such great shape, so please bid accordingly.
