FREE Highway (Island 6339 028) RARE German 1st Pressing Pink MINT!
RARE German first pressing of the classic Free album "Highway" on Island Records (December 1970).
"Heavily influenced by their admiration of The Band, Highway has understandably been described as Free's answer to Music From Big Pink, sharing both the laid-back vibe and mellow looseness of that role model. Where it went awry, of course, was in the fact that Free were not cut out to be country-rock guitar-twangers, no matter how fiery their missionary zeal. Yet, the strutting rockers "The Stealer" and "Ride on a Pony" alone shatter the brave new mood, while reflective romancers like "Love You So" and "Be My Friend" could well have been composed specifically to rid the band of the shadow of "Alright Now," and prove that underneath the coolest exterior, there beat a heart of molten gold." - Dave Thompson for allmusic.com

- Near-perfect fully laminated gatefold sleeve.
- No edge or corner wear whatsoever!
- Tiny blue ink stamp ("?") on inner gatefold (at top left).
- Also includes the original polylined German inner sleeve, correctly dated "34.70" (at bottom right) in MINT(-) condition.
MINT(-) RECORD that looks unplayed.
- Perfect vinyl on both sides, with impeccable audio reproduction throughout.
- No hairlining, scuffing or spindle wear whatsoever.
- Original untouched first-pressing pink Island Records labels, featuring the large "I".
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "10 AA6339028 1Y 320" and "10 AA6339028 2Y 320".
- Mothers/Stampers: "1 / D" on Side One and "1 / C" on Side Two.
- This record is hereby certified to be a very first German pressing of "Highway", released in December 1970.
