Here's another relisting due to winning bidder mpu14 saying 'the rear of the sleeve is grubby' which is odd as it is explicitly stated in my description plus the photo paints a thousand words! So here we go again...
1970 Trojan TBL 109 UK LP **Unity** by Freddie Notes & The Rudies.
The solid sleeve is laminated at the front and spine and with a 'plain' back. Said spine and edges are half decent but the sleeve shows laminate and other creasing along with corner rubs and ringwear. A price sticker blemish remains and the rear is grubby. Condition wise I'm giving it 5.5 /10.
At 167g the medium weight vinyl is flat with a nice sheen. The clean labels show evidence of several spins at the most.
There are no matrix numbers etc. on the dead-wax run-off on Side A, principally as the dead band is very narrow so no room! On Side B there looks like a scratched out matrix yet with a machine inscribed TBL-109-B so is unusual all round.
Angling the disc for inspection at the window and then under a searching light I really can't see a lot wrong with it. Sure, has some light storage and handling scuffs but it looks pretty fine to my eyes. As such I'm plumbing for 8.5 /10 for condition (or EXC+ if you prefer but I like the numbers - more room for manoeuvre!).
Next I'm play testing it now on my Linn / Naim hi-fi system. It plays well and is pretty 'clean' throughout yet with the odd tick and pop but nothing untoward to write home about. I like the sound quality so aurally I'm giving the vinyl 8.5 /10 also.
