FLOATING BRIDGE '69 OBSCURE HARD ROCK HEAVY FUZZ BLUES PSYCH GARAGE RARE
GRADING: All vinyl is visually graded unless noted - I only use NM-, EX, VG+, and VG based off Goldmine standards.
Vinyl: EX...Just a couple very light paper scuff marks but nothing that would affect play. I tested this whole LP a few months back and didn't notice any issues at all. No warp, no spindle wear in center label, and no writing on label or jacket. Amazing condition for it's age. (see pics) Jacket: VG....There is a 3 inch split on bottom opening but nothing major at all. (see pics) Record will be shipped outside the jacket. Everything will then be put in a poly sleeve and packed safely inside an LP box.I had a crazy vet bill for my dog otherwise I wouldn't have sold this rare gem but my dog comes first :)
I found the following info from a past auction this year that sold for $340 at auction so all the credit goes to that seller:
RARE and sought after Original 1969 first pressing of a great hard psych rocker from Seattle, who shuddered and shook to the gifted Floating Bridge that regularly opened for Jimi Hendrix Experience. Musicians comprised of ex - "Wailers" guitarist Rick Dangel, a secondary fuzz lead guitarist from the Checkmates, Joe Johansen and a crafted vocalist called Pat Gasson who really knew how to sing them blues. Bassist Joe Johnson and drummer Mike Marinelli from the group Unknown Factor completed the lineup.
Bursting with vibrancy this urgent distortion guitar led quartet issued their only LP in '69. The standouts include the immaculate twin lead guitar workout expressed instrumentally on Lennon & McCartney’s “Hey Jude” while a bridging into the Byrds / stone fusion “Eight Miles High” /”Paint It Black” with Dangel and Johansen spinning like spiders on heat on dual fuzzed guitars. They sizzled through a psychedelic artillery of nugget's namely 7 minutes of “Crackshot” and also a wicked “You’ve Got The Power.” while astounding blues riff can be heard on the “Three Minute & Ten Second Blues”. The same can be said for the Delta slow “Gonna Lay Down N’ Die” with Pat and Joe reaching from the bottom.
All said, Floating Bridge give the Beatles' Hey Jude a guitar elasticity that very few could emulate. Their instrumental version with two lead guitars in mating session are simply out of this world .....the rest of the album cranks out fevered blues and psych tracks that thrill collectors of the genre....you be the judge.
