Another from my personal collection. Collected over a period of more than 45 years I have accumulated more than 50,000 UK albums to date. Here is a very hard to find in this condition, 42 year old Fleetwood Mac album "Then Play On" The vinyl visually looks barely ever played no more than a handful of times in my opinion. The album has been carefully stored in a case with the vinyl seperated from the cover for protection for over 40 years. This is how I have always stored my records. There are no visable needle scratches on the vinyl and on initiall inspection the vinyl looks very near mint. I have play tested the vinyl two times prior to this listing at very loud volume on a top system. The audio is crystal clear and very vibrant through out and there is no distortion or indeed any signs that this has been overplayed. Any interferance is minimal in the form of isolated static tick or ticks in some places only. I would grade the audio at least excellent to excellent plus in my opinion. The 1st issue cover is also the earliest Garrod & Lofthouse cover at least excellent plus in my opinion with very minor rubbing wear to mention at the spine and rear barely noticed unless looked for. Try to find a better 1st pressed copy after 42 years! Great sounding progressive blues album highly collectable and sought after!

Then Play On is the third studio album by blues-rock band Fleetwood Mac, first released in September 1969.




Then Play On was the first of their original albums to feature Danny Kirwan and the last with Peter Green.





Jeremy Spencer did not feature on the album apart from "a couple of piano things" (according to Mick Fleetwood in Q magazine in 1990).


The record, appearing after the group's sudden success in the pop charts, offered a broader stylistic range than the classic blues of the group's first two albums. The title is taken from Duke Orsino's opening line, "If music be the food of love, play on," from William Shakespeare's comedy play Twelfth Night.

This was the band's first release with Warner/Reprise after being lured away from Blue Horizon and a one-off with Immediate Records. Forty years on, Fleetwood Mac remain with Warner.



The album, which at its original UK release had an unusually long running time, has been released with four different song lineups.

The Vinyl

The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warps. On initial inspection the vinyl is lovely and shiny and retains its original sheen and visably looks like this has barely been played that much in my opinion, in fact this looks almost mint! I find it hard to see any real marks on the playing surface at least no scratches or marks that would cause any nasty loud clicks or pops! Any marks that could possibly be seen in strong light would be light wyspy sleeve removal type only! On closer scrutiny there are very minute factory imperfections aprox 1mm dots only which may cause very light isolated tick or ticks only. But I must emphesize that there are no loud annoying constant clicks or pops! 

The Audio Quality

I have played this vinyl at very loud volume two times prior to this listing on a top system! The audio is stunning through out cristal clear and very vibrant only found like this on the earliest pressings! Please note there are some very quiet tracks on this album and some allowances should be made for very light isolated static tick or ticks that may be heard on some systems but certainly not consistant through out the audio! I would grade the audio at least excellent to excellent plus for the most part in my opinion!

Please remember that this vinyl is an original 42 years old that would have originally been played on a 42 year old system! The album/vinyl has been stored laying dormant in a case for over 35 years or more and would benefit from a constant cleaning before each play which would enhance the audio quality and pleasure also reducing any static that may be heard!
