Shake Some Action 4:36 Sometimes 2:18 Yes It's True 2:26 St. Louis Blues 2:36 You Tore Me Down 2:48 Please Please Girl 2:02 Let The Boy Rock N' Roll 2:16 Don't You Lie To Me 2:26 She Said Yeah 1:36 I'll Cry Alone 2:14 Misery 1:36 I Saw Her 2:38 Teenage Confidential 2:44 I Can't Hide 3:10   Why such a long delay following up 1971's very excellent Teenage Head?  Record company issues and personnel shifts, to include the departure of Ray Loney, have a way of delaying new product.  No matter, though.  Shake Some Action is very nearly its predecessor's equal in terms of overall strike rate as Cyril Jordan admirably seizes the reigns.  The most impressive thing for me is Flamin' Groovies ability to synthesize and reflect a wide array of influences.  Teenage Head was steeped heavily in Blues whereas this record feels much more influenced by Pop traditions.  "Yes, It's True" for example is a convincing encapsulation of British invasion pop that would not have sounded at all out of place on Please Please Me.  There's a well dressed cover of "Misery" on Side Two just to emphasize the point.  No mind blowing new ideas added to the rock canon but Shake Some Action is an entertaining and astutely executed piece of rock/pop from true students of both genres.
