FIVE BY FIVE RARE HENDRIX DEMO FIRE 1968 PYE INT 7N 25477 - psych / garage classic 45.
On offer is A RARE DEMO by FIVE BY FIVE entitled FIRE c/w HANG UP released in the UK on PYE INTERNATIONAL 7N 25477 in 1968.
FIVE BY FIVE were an American garage/ beat band from Arkansas. In the summer of 1968, their great version of Fire from the Jimi Hendrix album Are You Experienced was a USA national hit. In November 1968 Fire reached number 52 and - as a result - merited a release in the UK on the PYE INTERNATIONAL label. It did not sell well in the UK and is hard-to-find these days especially in ADVANCE PROMO / DEMO format.
- The vinyl on this rare demo is in VG condition – with some small scuff / surface marks but nothing affecting play
- The record labels on both the A and the B side [see scans] look great: with a LEEDS RADIO stamp in red on the A side. The exact release date of 6 DEC 68 is stamped on the A side label.
- The disc is housed in a PYE label company sleeve.
- I have test-played the disc for this auction. The record plays EXCELLENTLY on my Bose stereo hi-fi.
- This garage / psych / beat version of Hendrix's Fire should [of course!] be played with the volume as loud as you dare to go!
