FARMYARD self-titled LP RARE NZ PROG ROCK BREAKBEATS with outer plastic bag + inner
Farmyard – “Farmyard” LP (orig. New Zealand Polydor STEREO 2471 001, outer plastic bag + inner sleeve)
Release date: April 1971. Recording dates: March 1971.
On offer here is an ULTRA RARE original NEW ZEALAND issue of the debut album by FARMYARD, which included MILTON PARKER (RELICS, TANGENT), RICK WHITE (RELICS, TOM THUMB, TAYLOR) and TOM SWAINSON (TOM THUMB, QUINCY CONSERVE, REDEYE).
Musically, we’re talking flute-driven progressive rock with a great deal of experimentation and the occasional use of tribal percussion. The guitar work is intense at times and the vocals are highly expressive. “Through My Window” will appeal to any collector of breakbeats on vinyl. FARMYARD’s only hit single “Learning ‘Bout Living” is also included, although it is vastly different to the remainder of the album. I’ve included YouTube links to some of my favourite LP cuts below. Enjoy!
