Description

ELVIS PRESLEY FIVE SUN RECORDS – 45 RPMs<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Up for auction are the five Elvis Presley Sun Records-original 45 RPM platters. These were purchased in 1955 and are NOT reproductions, reprints or copies. These are original issues of the recordings-true collector items. This auction is for the purchase of all five records.

Elvis Presley's Sun recordings are recordings Elvis Presley made at Sun Studios in Memphis, Tennessee, U.S.A. between 1953 and 1955. Presley recorded 20 songs at Sun; 18 have survived and two tapes were lost. Ten were released by Sun as Elvis' first five single record issues between 1954 and 1955. (In 2002, Elvis Presley's Sun recordings were inducted into the US Congress's National Recording Registry.) (Original issues of these records have been offered and purchased for $1,000.00 or more for each record!)

These are the five Sun records:

MYSTERY TRAIN / I FORGOT TO REMEMBER TO FORGET

THAT’S ALL RIGHT / BLUE MOON OF KENTUCKY

GOOD ROCKIN’ TONIGHT / I DON’T CARE IF THE SUN DON’T SHINE

BABY LET’S PLAY HOUSE / I’M LEFT, YOU’RE RIGHT, SHE’S GONE

MILKCOW BLUES BOOGIE / YOU’RE A HEART BREAKER

The records are age worn from storage, however ALL OF THE RECORDS PLAY (on my old Pioneer turntable with a very worn phonograph needle) and sound good for their age. (Just goes to prove that the oldies are indeed the best!)

“I FORGOT TO REMEMBER TO FORGET” does have a small skip spot in the very beginning of the record. They are in their plain, brown ‘sleeve’ wrappers from that time. (An interesting note, one of the sleeves is marked with the astronomical price of 89 cents.)

These records would be a welcome and treasured addition to any Elvis Presley memorabilia collection.
