Description
From the last record making days of Thomas A. Edison, Inc., of Orange, New Jersey, comes this electric needle cut 78 RPM record. In 1929, the Edison company had finally switched to the thinner lateral cut electric type of recording. But, it was too little and too late to match the already well-established competition of Victor, Columbia and others. So quite suddenly on Saturday, October 19, 1929, all recording activity at the long established Edison company ended. This particular title was to be shipped by the factory on 10-8-1929 and scheduled for release on 10-25-1929.
Sometime, probably in 1929, George Hamilton Green and Joe Green recorded this single 78 RPM record as the Green Brothers Novelty Marimba Band. The song titles were "Four Little Blackberries" (Lawrence O'Connor) and "A Bunch Of Roses" (R. Chapi). (The Green Brothers had been recording for various companies since about 1915.) This Edison record is consider to be in good condition with a few light scratches, marks and smudges. No record playing equipment is available to play or test the record prior to its sale.
Turn back the clock some 82 years and join the Green Brothers Novelty Marimba Band as they finish out the very last record producing days of Edison.
