Description

Eddie Cochrane

20 Flight Rock b/w Dark Lonely Street

LONDON

1957

Discogs has no record of this release. Catalogue number is 45.HL-U  8386, which in it itself is not very interesting, however the credit on 20 Flight Rock is to 'Fairchild' ONLY. Very early first release? Maybe of some interest.

Side A - VG - I have played this a number of times, at volume, and I have stopped just short of a VG+ grading (which would be just short of near mint). Sound is clear and balanced with a gorgeous 'upfront' 'real' tone on the voice and instrumentation. It has been spin cleaned with a Knosti (2nd dip in 20%IPA)and there is minimal light crackle at run in/out. However, and arguably, towards the end of the disc there is just a touch of distortion on the high notes that might be wear related. That said, I defy anyone not to enjoy this cracking bit of vinyl.

Side B - VG - Lovely warm tones but groove wear evident on this side on the higher 'S' and 'C' sounds. Noticeable but doesn't make the disc unpleasant to listen to.

Cover G+ - Original London cover, not split, but as you can see: Written on, 'index' labeled, and beginning to discolour. Will be supplied in new 180micron PVC cover.

Pushed out triangle centre. This has led to damage to paper label on 'B' side.
