[The Early] Rationals - I Need You / [The Old Exciting] Scot Richard Case (aka SRC) - Get the Picture 7" (A-Square Records, catalog # A2-402, 1967)
This is the only split single on Detroit's great A2 record label (also home of MC5, Thyme and the Apostles). Both band names were modified for this release, probably to imply these were older recordings at the time. In the case of the Rationals side, it says "circa 1966", but the record itself came out in 1967. The Rationals cover of the Kinks "I Need You" is so great it was included on the Nuggets CD boxed set. The Fuzz, Acid and Flowers website called SRC's cover of the Pretty Things "Get the Picture" a "competent, snarly version", and it was comped on the Boulders Vol 2 LP (which also comped the Rationals side) plus a couple of CDs. Popsike shows only one sale of this record over 2 years ago and in much lesser condition for well over $100. Condition: Vinyl is NM-. Any white specks or fingerprints in the scan below are just because of my cheap, dirty scanner. The record is as clean as you'll ever see it. Never in picture sleeve. Please note: I use Goldmine standard grading, which has no EX grade.
