Description
Further house downsizing and stuff for sale, I would in some ways not sell, but can't take it all with me,
I worked on much of this stuff with Robb, the vinyl is in good condition, mainly unplayed, and with original inserts and booklets as shown in the photographs, some yellowing due to time here and there…
IRR 001 - In Amongst the rain - Robbs first Album, a rock workout with synth, and up front drums, favourites here are “Ministry of Humour” (which gave rise to the band with Mark Shilcock and Graham Barnes (RIP)), “Banks of the Rhine”, one from the Grubstreet days “bad dreams” and the wonderful “As far as the sea”.. Complete with the booklet.
IRR 009 - Small Town World - So a few on from the first one, and Robb in fine writing mode, hard to pull out a favourite, but Another Cold Saturday in Hel, No more Townships and True Stories are amongst my favourites… again with the original insert…
Singles
IRR 007 - The Herald of Free Enterprise and Upstairs Downstairs - Recorded by Robb to support the striking P&) workers after the Herald of Free Enterprise sunk in Holland. It has an ethereal drum beat which is, in fact, a foot tap near the mike stand at the start….
AFA005 - on the Action for Animals label Robbs’ “Animal Song”, on the B side works by Carla Lane (The Abattoir) and Martin Simpson (Train 45), Robbs tune is great accompanied by some wonderful young voices….
IRR 010 - Double A side - Wasted Years and the Towers of Basingstoke, the Robb Johnson band in action, two great songs I love, re-reading the sleeve, it seems little has changed sentiment wise, only the players…
IRI 011 12” Single with Acoustic (Fairy Tales in Feltham, 6B go Swimming and Vic Williams) and Electric sides (Not in my name - Tonight, let's have a good time) - Just love that cover picture, complete with IRR010 by the TV.
