New Orleans' EYEHATEGOD have spent the last two decades at odds with a corrupt music industry, using their music as a proverbial middle finger aimed at everything from government officials to sanctimonious sh*theads hiding behind organized religion. They have defied all odds and continue to exist and persist despite personal and professional setbacks, from drug addiction to natural disasters. In the midst of all this turmoil EYEHATEGOD have become the high water mark when it comes to "sludge metal", having birthed rock's unholy bastard feasting on the teat that Black Sabbath and Black Flag built. They became the cornerstone for countless of sonic acolytes following in their fetid footsteps and continue to inspire bands around the world.

"Confederacy of Ruined Lives" is their fourth and latest studio album, released in late 2000. I'm Better Than Everyone Records is extremely proud and honored to collaborate with EYEHATEGOD and finally give this a proper vinyl release, the way it was intended to be heard, without compromises nor excuses: a beautiful f*ck you to all the non-believers.
The release date for this record will be Oct 20. There are 2 versions that will be available.
The main edition will be a hand numbered edition of 400 on thick black vinyl. In addition, there will also be
an extremely limited edition of 100 hand numbered copies on White vinyl with tan and black splatter.
Both editions will be encased in a deluxe triple gatefold!!!

We were lucky enough to get a couple of copies of this album before it sold out, and let me tell you my friend, IT SOLD OUT VERY VERY QUICKLY.  There were 400 "regular" copies and 100 copies like this one.
ONLY 100 COPIES WERE PRESSED, and then hand-numbered.
The record label went through a lot of turmoil to get these right.  They came back with the wrong kind of paper used for the cover and had to be returned while the release date was delayed.  Finally, it came...
and at this point, hardly a month later, the album is long gone, sold out, with no chance of a repress.
At least no chance that it's going to exist again in this form!

 Eyehategod (also abbreviated and referred to as EHG) is an American sludge metal band from New Orleans who formed in 1988. They have become one of the most important bands to emerge from the NOLA metal scene. Throughout the years, their core line-up has remained the same, with the exception of the bass guitarist, a slot which has seen several come and go.

Eyehategod have noted Melvins, The Obsessed, Black Flag, and Black Sabbath as key influences to their sound. Heavy, detuned, and bluesy guitar riffs dominate the band's sound. They are combined with walls of feedback and tortured vocals to create a harsh misanthropic vibe. But in reality, if you hang around the members in real life (which will require a great deal of waiting outside the churches and synagogues that each of the members belong to), you'll find that the anger, drugs and heavy rock angle is mostly a pose.  The majority of the band members are covered in tattoos of pink unicorns being ridden by smiling happy children with big eyes eating ice cream. When you see them perform live you notice a very close resemblance to the music of the Carpenters.  Too close a resemblance, most say.  This is why their sound is manipulated in the studio to reflect a musical sound that better matches their appearances.  Once they run everything through distortion pedals, boxes, and effects, the "Carpenter" MOR vibe is gone as the EHG sound is made solid. The record company usually takes control of the cover art and dispenses with the happy pink and green children's drawings of happy pixies and chipmunks happily prancing in a field of happy flowers; the same album cover they turn in every time.  Once the label has the bands' art in hand, it is tossed in the bin and something scary and naughty is used in its place.

Eyehategod then went through a period of internal disputes, and went on unofficial hiatus as its members scattered again to record and tour with their various side-projects; namely Soilent Green, Corrosion of Conformity and Crowbar. Eventually, in 2000, the band reconvened (again with a new bassist, this time Daniel Nick) to compile their various Take as Needed for Pain and Dopesick era singles, 7 inches and split records into one record, Southern Discomfort. This reconvention gave them the impetus to knuckle down and record another album, and that album was 2000's Confederacy of Ruined Lives. The album was a much more polished, sober affair, and so sounded distinctly more like a sequel to Take as Needed for Pain than Dopesick. After its release, the band then toured extensively (embarking on a world tour for the first time, with dates in Europe and Japan), while its members still juggled their various side-projects. During this time, Down recorded their second album, and Bower formed the mostly instrumental band, The Mystick Krewe of Clearlight, as well as Soilent Green releasing their third album. Mike Williams also founded Outlaw Order and Arson Anthem. During all this activity, Eyehategod found time to compile and release their live album 10 Years of Abuse (and Still Broke) (which was mainly released due to a contractual obligation with Century Media), and record and release yet more split records and 7 inches. With the release of their live album, the band were free of their contract with Century, and chose to sign to Emetic Records (with their fifth and current bassist, Gary Mader) for the release of their 2005 stop-gap compilation album, Preaching the "End-Time" Message, much in the vein of Southern Discomfort, but this time with some unreleased studio tracks.


GRADING STANDARDS from GOLDMINE

VERY GOOD PLUS / EXCELLENT:
Most collectors, especially those who want to play their records, will be happy with a VG+ record,

VG+ records may show some slight signs of wear, including light scuffs or very light scratches that do not affect the listening experience. Slight warps that don’t affect the sound are OK. Minor signs of handling are OK, too, such as telltale marks around the center hole, so long as repeated playing has not misshapen the hole. There may be some very light ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable.

VG+ Covers should have only minor wear. A VG+ cover might have some very minor seam wear or a split (less than one inch long) at the bottom, the most vulnerable locataion.

VERY GOOD:
Many of the imperfections found on a VG+ Record are more obvious on a VG record. That said, VG records — which usually sell for no more than 25 percent of a an NM record — are among the biggest bargains in record collecting, because moost of the “big money” goes for more perfect copies. For many listeners, a VG record or sleeve will be worth the money.

VG records have more obvious flaws than their counterparts in better shape. They lack most of the original gloss found on factory-fresh records. Groove wear is evident on sight, as are light scratches deep enough to feel with a fingernail.

When played, a VG record has surface noise, and some scratches may be audible, especially in soft passages and during a song’s intro and ending. But the noise won’t overpower the music otherwise. Minor writing, tape or a sticker can detract from the label. Many collectors who have jukeboxes will use VG records in them and not think twice. They remain a fine listening experience, just not the same as if it were in better shape.

VG covers will have many signs on human handling. Ring wear in the middle or along the edges of the cover, where the edge of a record would reside, is obvious; it may appear on all three sides, thought it won’t be obvious upon looking. Someone might have written on it or stamped a price tag on it, too.

GOOD/VERY GOOD MINUS:
Good does not mean bad! The record still plays through without skipping, so it can serve as filler until something better comes along. But it has significant surface noicse and groove wear. The label is worn and exhibits significant ring wear, heavy writing or obvious damage caused by tring to remove tape or stickers and failing miserably.

REMOVE THE VINYL RECORDS FROM THEIR SLEEVES & LAY THEM DOWN ON A SURFACE TO DISPLAY THEM.
We're rather amazed when we take the care that we do with the vinyl we sell, and then see another seller make more money selling the exact same item
in worse shape, and their picture shows the record out of its cover and out of its sleeve lying on a surface!  I believe the "problem" is that we try to describe every item
in detail so that you'll know exactly what you're getting.  Many sellers will simply say "excellent" "mint" or "great", having no idea what those terms mean in relation to the Goldmine Grading System.  We tell you exactly what you're getting, and even if it's been to hell and back, we still treat it like it's a piece of your mother.  Sometimes it's the detail that screws things up, I think.  If we were vague, like most sellers, you'd just see the name of the band, the title, and a picture, and you'd buy it.  Oh well.

Many sellers seem to have a disregard for the items they're selling and only care about making their pictures look pretty.  We only care about the pieces we sell.  And you.  So you'll see that the records are displayed IN THEIR ORIGINAL SLEEVES, with just a hint of the vinyl showing so that you can see what color they are.  If you want to see the vinyl pulled from its sleeve and resting on a dusty surface, look at someone else's auction or blog and then come back to our page and buy our copy in PERFECT SHAPE.
