On auction the ultra rare 10” that hardly ever shows up here in Holland: UTOPIA by LAGUESTRA.
LAGUESTRA was one of the pseudonyms of Dutch musician/band leader W. LANGESTRAAT who was an avid collector of etnografic instruments. As LAGUESTRA he made recordings in the 50s with an ochestra featuring many of these instruments, aiming not so much to re-create the original ethnografic sound as to enrich the western orchestra with new sounds. He was doing his own thing, the only one in holand and far ahead of his time. This 10” was recorded in 1957 and virtually impossible to find, first copy I found in 15 years digging.
