Description
ERNEST RANGLIN – WRANGLIN’
– Island Records ILP 909 - 1964 original pressing
Linstead Market / Angelina / Tonight / Wranglin’ / Reflections / Just In Time
Caribbean guitar virtuoso, Ernest Ranglin, true pioneer and Godfather of Ska and Reggae. He played on Millie Small’s significant My Boy Lollipop. As an esteemed session musician, he worked with all the greats, Bob Marley, Wailers, Jimmy Cliff, Toots & The Maytals et al… no doubt he was integral in the evolution of the genre and Island Records’ success with Chris Blackwell.
This is a prized and scarce album. The cover is at least VG, has some light rubbing to laminate on front cover, has some minor creasing to spine and light bumping to bottom corner. Please see pics. Inner paper bag has some tears and creasing
The playing surface has many scuffs and a few hairlines, there is some surface noise. It's been used but not abused. Label A has some faint writing in pencil. Side 1 plays well, with surface noise which isn’t obtrusive. Side 2 has occasional clicks and ticks with surface noise. The worst of which I’ve captured on video. It’s played on a Mono early 60s player which is fairly unforgiving – please see pics and video. It’s subjective to grade, but I would say overall, VG.
