Description

ELVIS PRESLEY - ROCK N ROLL No 2 VINYL LP UK HMV CLP 1105 1ST PRESS 1957.

Firstly to say that I am not a dealer, I am a collector. I don't buy & sell records for profit, I do my best to put an honest description, with the help of photos and always start at a sensible price.  Please contact with any questions or if further info is required.

The Record

As stated this is a first press UK edition of Elvis's 2nd LP release Cat No. CLP 1105 Matrix G2-WP-7207-2N/G2-WP-7208-1N. Tax Code XT. The condition I have put as Good+ so as to probably under grade slightly, Visually it has a fair amount of hairline and scuffs but not really any feelables of note, I have put a couple of pics on showing the vinyl under a strong torch which really enhances it. The labels are pretty good, no writing, the gold lettering has faded slightly but is still all legible.

I have played and enjoyed this record regularly (on my Rega Planar 2) and it plays through fine, no jumps or sticks and very minor and occasional pops. The main fault as always with this age of record is crackle which is prominent on quieter tracks and in between but in the background on upbeat tracks, it never overpowers the vocal. Possibly a pro clean may improve slightly.

The Cover

The obvious problem is the small patch that has been put into the front, it looks to have been done (not by me) to stabilise the cover and prevent any further tears or laminate damage, which it does, there is no tape or glue on the front of the cover just 2 pieces of low tack scotch tape inside, so the patch could easily be removed without trace if required, it does make the cover properly usable though.

Apart from this the rest of the cover is in really very good condition, the spine is solid as are the other edges and the back, there is some very minor laminate lift on both sides of the opening but that is all.

To summarise - This is a reasonable playing copy of a fairly rare and iconic record, it is very listenable and has a cover which is much better than many surviving copies of this album. I have put on a low start to reflect the condition, which hopefully I have managed to accurately put across. The Album is now 64 years old but still has plenty of life and enjoyment left.

Selling to UK Post Codes only - please message if I can help further.
