ELVIS PRESLEY : THE BEST OF ELVIS LP UK HMV DLP 1159 ORIGINAL
Elvis Presley first UK 10 INCH LP from 1957. The Best of Elvis on HMV label No.DLP 1159 . One of the real top spots of anyone collecting Elvis vinyl. Almost as rare as the HMV Rock n Roll CLP 1093 / 1105 although how rare is it to find a copy that has no major faults.
Lets cut to the chase!! Every Elvis/ record collector wants to know about the cover - not the disc or inner sleeve!!!! The laminated cover is a strong Very Good (note this isn't a "taking account for the fact it is 50 years old" rubbish you often see). IT HAS NO TEARS OR RIPS or nasty creases.. The 'Best of Elvis' text is also visable on the spine. Closer inspection shows a minor flaw: the front cover has lost a section of laminate on the top right corner (I would have rated the cover higher if not for this), and despite a few other minor marks, the cover is looking Very Good. The rear of the cover has no faults and on its own I would rate excellent
Condition of the disc is excellent. Retains the strong lustre of a little played LP.A few very minor marks but basically looks totally clean at first look and plays as it looks!The labels with the old HMV logo and GOLD LETTERING are great and spindle marks are at a minimum.Grades at EX-.
MATRIX /STAMPER CODES side 1 : OXAV 289 -1N (1 -P)
side 2 : OXAV 290 -1N (1- H)
Also comes with the original inner bag which has no splits and I would rate: Very Good
Together with a really nice disc this is a Very Good example of this major rarity.
BEWARE FAKES!!!! -read on
Note: I have noticed a load of bootlegs / copies /fakes - whatever you want to call them, appearing on EBAY. These FAKES have card covers and no flipbacks. Also the vinyl have no proper matrix and stamper codes. In addition the text on the label lacks the GOLD letter text.
