SOUNDTRACK FOR ANDREI TARKOVSKY'S MOVIE, SOLARIS. This soundtrack contains the ultra rare music from the movie, Solaris, by Eduard Artemiev & the Electronic Music Experiment Studio Ensemble. 

Deep and dark synthesizer work, composed by Artemiev for the film.  Artemiev's electronic soundtrack perfectly encapsulates the mood of foreboding in the film.  It was made using an obscure old synthesizer called and ANS (named after Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin).

THIS ONE IS BRAND NEW AND STILL SEALED.  This soundtrack never comes up for sale.  This is the only one that you'll currently find available.........an almost one of a kind item because it's so hard to find.

PULLED FROM THE INTERNET - The Solaris soundtrack is unusual in that it was created using the rare ANS synthesizer, which used photo-optic recording to translate sound into images, or to translate drawn images into sound:

In this case the sine waves generated by the ANS are printed onto five glass discs using a process which Murzin (an optical engineer) had to develop himself. Each disc has 144 individual tracks printed onto it, for a total of 720 microtones (discrete pitches), spanning 10 octaves. This yields a resolution of 1/72 octave (16.67 cents). The modulated light from these wheels is then projected onto the back of the synthesizer’s interface. These are arranged in a continuous swath vertically, with low frequencies at the bottom and high frequencies at the top.

The user interface consists of a glass plate covered in non-drying opaque black mastic which constitutes a drawing surface upon which the user makes marks by scratching through the mastic, and therefore allowing light to pass through at that point. In front of the glass plate sits a vertical bank of twenty photocells which send signals to twenty amplifiers and bandpass filters, each with its own gain adjust control. It is akin to a ten-octave equalizer with two knobs per octave. The ANS is fully polyphonic and will generate all 720 pitches simultaneously if required (a vertical scratch would accomplish this).

Some of the records we're selling are from a large collection of classical and jazz LP’s from a college radio station here in Omaha. They went totally digital a few years back and we’re now getting around to selling the 1000’s of classical and jazz inventory that we acquired.

Some of the LP’s have radio station inventory stickers on either the vinyl or the cover or both. Some may also have small timing writing usually on the back. Some may also need a good professional cleaning. PLEASE CHECK THE PICS AND BID ACCORDINGLY.……….THANK YOU.

Our Grading

Mint (M):

Absolutely perfect in every way. This is a grade that won't be used unless the record is still sealed.

Near Mint or Mint- (NM or M-):

A nearly perfect record. This record shows no obvious signs of wear. A record that looks and plays like new. The jacket may show only light wear with minor scuffing and/or edge-wear. The jacket will not have seam splits, folds, or cut-out holes.

Excellent (EX):

This record won't be perfect and may show very minimal signs of use. This is a record that may have been played but was handled with extreme care. The jacket may have light scuffing and/or edge-wear, minimal creasing, promotional cut-outs or cut corners.

 Very Good Plus (VG+):

This record will show light use and may have some mild scuffing and/or fine surfaces scratches that may create light surface noise. This is a record that was obviously played and shows light to moderate wear. The jacket may have light to moderate scuffing, edge-wear, slight ring wear, lightly turned-up corners, promotional cut-outs or cut corners.

Very Good (VG):

This record will show more signs of wear. Surface scuffing and light scratches will be much more visible. Surface noise will be more noticeable. Record labels may have writing, or stickers attached. The jacket will have scuffing and edge-wear and may have seam splits, ring wear, turned-up corners, and cut-out holes. Jackets may also have a previous owner's name or other writing.

Good (G):

This record will have even more wear with significant surface noise, scratches, and possible groove wear. However, with all of these defects described, the record should play without skipping. The jacket may have seam splits, ring wear, turned-up corners, and cut-out holes. Jackets may also have a previous owner's name or other writing

Some of the albums and/or 45's may have small inventory stickers on either the cover or the record label itself plus some may have small timing writing on the back. There are also some with cut-out holes in the upper right corner. We will try to note any such defects in the description, but please double check the pics for any ones that we do describe or any that we may miss and please bid accordingly. Our primary concern is your complete satisfaction.

The records are all visually graded and as stated our first priority is 100% customer satisfaction, so if an item doesn't meet your expectations please let us know and we'll rectify the situation. All we ask is the chance before you leave negative feedback.
