Description

Recently a friend passed away, a few months ago now. His name was George Crotty, and many of you will know of him - he was a gem of a person, and aside from the obvious sadness involved in all that, he was renowned for having one of the best collections of 60's Garage, Beat, Punk & Psychedelic 7"s, EPs and LPs (especially of Australian artists) - gathered together meticulously and carefully for longer than the 36 year period I'd known him.

Mostly, he was known for his intense passion for THE EASYBEATS, and he made a point of collecting ANYTHING by them (specifically on vinyl, but paper-goods, and other ephemera too). He'd even started to write a book on them in the years before he died, and there's a LOT of his research amongst this collection and the writings too, all typewritten (he had no handle on computers really. But all that aside, and as sad as it may be, the time has come now, to divide up and sell that collection - thus this very item is one of

GEORGE CROTTY'S PERSONAL EASYBEATS COLLECTION,

...all of which will appear here over the next few weeks...and is possibly something that some of you who knew him or knew of him, would be very proud to own, I imagine. You can guarantee he loved this - he was very particular what he kept.

ARTIST:      the EASYBEATS -
TITLE:          "THE BEST OF THE EASYBEATS + PRETTY GIRL" .
FORMAT:     …vinyl LP…
LABEL:         Parlophone .
CAT. #:          PMCO-7541  .
DATE OF RELEASE:   1966 .
PRESSED IN:    Australia .
ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING?   Yes, it is...defined as a first pressing by the album title on the label - first pressings had "THE BEST OF THE EASYBEATS + PRETTY GIRL", and a second pressing in early 1968 changed it to "THE BEST OF THE EASYBEATS plus PRETTY GIRL"....and also by the labels: first press has the round Alberts publishing logo to the left of the centre-hole, and silver ALBERT PRODUCTION wording and logo at the bottom of the labels...see pix..

It was the habit of Australian record labels EMI and Festival, to give out a few album covers of upcoming releases to retail reps, to take around to record stores for them to display/pin up for a couple of weeks prior to release - both companies would print "FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY" on the bottom flap of the back covers. This LP is in one of those rare covers. See pic.

Mono original with flipback cover...there's really not too much you can say about this, other than it's jam-packed with garage killers...but you know that of course...

LABELS: (Side One: MINT / Side Two: MINT)......

If you have any concerns about the accuracy of my gradings, please check my feedback for the odd nice comment from some satisfied folk out there.... (and hopefully you may be able to join their ranks).

You can pay in US$'s or UK pounds or EURO's or Australian dollars.

CLICK ON view sellers other auctions ABOVE FOR SIMILAR ITEMS - I list lots of punk / garage'n'psych (60s –> 90s) / power pop / guitar pop / soul & R'n'B / some occasional original 50's rock'n'roll & rockabilly plus industrial/experimental rarities from down this way - vinyl mostly, and posters, some CDs - (admittedly you’ll find all sorts of other guff too)...

Thanks for considering this item. Best of luck if you decide to bid...Cheers, Jules.
