Alan James Eastwood's Seeds never made a dent on the charts - despite the presence of fellow West Midlander and mate Robert Plant playing tambourine on his debut single - but among obsessive collectors and folk-funk diggers, it's long held near-mythical status. First released in 1971, this lush and off-kilter studio album quietly disappeared before it had the chance to find its audience. By the mid-70s, Eastwood had slipped from the music scene entirely, his name passed mainly in whispers between those drawn to the fringes of psychedelic soul and pastoral funk. This expanded reissue finally does the record justice, adding a second LP of nine hard-to-find non-album singles and wrapping the whole thing in a gatefold sleeve with new liner notes by Paul Hillery.
