Description
Catch The Wind is the debut album by the Scottish folk singer-songwriter. It was released in the U.S. on the Hickory Records label in June 1965. The album was his last for the UK Pye label before switching to the U.S. Epic Records label. The album is Donovan as more straightforward version of a folk singer before he morphed into the pop/psych superstar he later became on Epic. He had been dubbed “England’s Bob Dylan” at the time. The music consists primarily of Donovan singing and playing mouth harp and acoustic guitar much like his live performances of the time. Though derided as a pale imitator of Dylan, he clearly was developing his own unique style, and doing it quite well. In the UK the album reached #3 and in the U.S. it peaked at #30 on Billboard’s Top LP’s chart during an impressive 23 week run on the chart. The title track reached #23 on the Hot 100 Singles chart. Excellent debut for the then budding superstar. Nice first press stereo copy from ‘65 here.
