Description

Don Rendell/Ian Carr Change-Is UK Columbia JAZZ LP NM

Lansdowne Series SCX6368 <> October 1969

The Don Rendell/Ian Carr Quintet – Change-Is LP (orig. UK STEREO Columbia Lansdowne Series SCX 63681969)

Recorded: 20 March & 16 April 1969 ~ release date: October 1969.  Running time: 47:00 (approx).

On offer here is an original British issue of DON RENDELL/IAN CARR QUINTET's fifth (and final) album on the HIGHLY COLLECTABLE COLUMBIA Lansdowne Series label.  First class and exquisite free modal jazz—my personal favourite of all their albums.  The closing track “Mirage” is as close to JAZZ NIRVANA as you will ever get!

This LP hardly ever turns up; so do not miss the opportunity to acquire one of the RAREST BRITISH MODERN JAZZ ALBUMS ever released!

GRADING

Cover:

EX+ beautiful glossy sheen on front, impressive matt finish on back; insignificant handling wear only (see digital photos 1&2).  I scanned each side of the cover in four separate parts and then combined the images into one.  This resulted in some shade variations in the pics!

Record:

EX visual: beautiful glossy sheen—SUPERB copy (M-); audible: just PLAYED LOUD through 100 WATT speakers and it SOUNDS SUPERB overall, with some underlying surface noise more noticeable during the quieter passages (EX to M-), and more prominent on parts of side 2 (VG+ to VG++); labels: exceptional, HARDLY ANY SPINDLE WEAR (see digital photo 3).  ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND A BETTER COPY OF THE DISC!!  DISC COMES INSIDE ORIGINAL EMI INNER BAG.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS RECORD WAS RELEASED OVER 40 YEARS AGO!
