Description

An original 1st issue UK Press of Rock. Matrix 2/1 -1st cut. Any collector who knows their stuff  will know --- very 1st press is found without EMI logo. And this copy comes from later in the chart run WITH EMI LOGO - judging by the stampers the Xmas market 1970 [whilst still riding high in the charts]. And 'Gramophone' in the perimeter text. Please note the heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover. Invariably these original Rock copies have been murdered - so don't underestimate a well cared for original copy! I appreciate that many collectors will want to seek out an early 1st press [I wouldn't knock that]. But I will add most 1st pressings are knackered - err like...80%+ of them. So, when it comes to audio I am far more attuned to a SUPERB playing '1st Issue'...June to December 1970. For me - I need to hear Child In Time play superb...it's the key track and it HAS TO PLAY GREAT...or a i just cannot be arsed with it. This copy is SUPERB for audio and is still a near master copy. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THAT. Will ship in a Mofi anti-static inner. The original harvest inner is present too. So, 100 genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Good lustre. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of slight marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback.  And if you're into sensible grading - that is something highly unusual on IN ROCK, Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Great energy from this near-master copy and a very very capable player. 'Child In Time' is just so atmospheric with a clean background. Practically perfect ....and quite frankly the feed is exquisite. This is pure unadulterated riffage of the highest order! Always loved C.I.T. You will hear well into the mix from a near-master copy which has been really well taken care off.  Gotta hand it to this copy...I am lovin' it... you really get the full gamut. Overall a cracking rendition and comes highly recommended. 95+% superb. A clean signal...a real rarity on this often abused title. THE BEST COPY FOR AUDIO I've ever WITNESSED. LITERALLY PERFECT.
Cover (Ex) In superb condition for the vintage and not warn out like so many other examples. Front looks seriously tidy. Interior has avoided the ageing process. The rear is clean too.  Minimal edge wear.  Spine is 95% in tact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. MOST copies are not even close to this standard...
Inner (Vg+) No splits. Light ageing.
