The very ?rst repress of Dark Round The Edges from 1990.

This one is 03/30 and the winner will receive a Certificate of Authenticity stating that and signed by myself. - The winning bidder of the last auction wanted his certificate numbered 04/30 as 4 is his lucky number - so 03/30 is still up for grabs

This vinyl is from the same repress as that of the Swank Records release by Gregg Breth & Paul Majors back in 1990.
It was subsequently made available by Steve Smith/Kissing Spell in 1991: darkside 001 on his then Darkside label.

Gregg Breth had originally commissioned me to get 250 copies made and shipped over to him for Swank to release.
The pressing plant I used would not press less that 500, so I kept the rest.

After that initial release, Steve Smith contacted me to produce the ?rst CD of Dark Round The Edges and, on ?nding out I had the extra records, bought about 220 of them to release himself.

That left me with the remainder of 30 which, apart from giving a few away back then, I have done nothing with until now.

I am making 20 (17 left) available, faithfully reproduced as shown in the photos and this video:

I have produced the photos and stuck them to the sleeves, much as I did back in 1972 - but the quality of the sleeve (now a true gatefold), photos and booklets, is much improved.

The booklets are produced on high quality satin ?nish paper and are professionally bound photobooks. The LPs are supplied in plastic lined anti-static sleeves and the whole
package is inside a plastic outer sleeve.

Also included is 'The Dark Round The Edges Story’ as remembered by myself.
The story tells of the day and subsequent evenings spent at SIS Studios laying down the backing tracks and the overdubbing.
This is an A4 photobook of the same quality as the new lyric booklet.

In addition, there is a limited edition CD of the backing tracks, without any vocal or guitar overdubs, and includes the out-takes that were not recorded over during the studio
session on 9th July 1972.
These are produced by myself and are presented in a plastic wallet which also contains the artwork insert.
Please Note: this CD artwork is lnkjet Printed and so will not tolerate damp conditions or ?ngers.

The CD label has a protective coating, so is safe.

You will also receive a Certificate of Authenticity which will be numbered out of 30. This is becuase I am holding on to some for ourselves. The album in this auction is 03/30.
The Certificate will also include a few notes on how this recreation came to be.

I am offering these up for auction one at a time and, although I may have one or two ready to go, due to high production cost they will normally be produced to order depending upon the cover and booklet chosen so 14-28 days MUST be allowed for production and dispatch.
There is no option to state this in the Dispatch Time on the listing - and that may say 3 or  4 Days. This is NOT possible if I need to make the sleeve or order a booklet or two.
The sleeve cannot be produced until I am informed which one is required.

Please inform me which sleeve and booklet you prefer at the end of the auction.

I will start producing the sleeve as soon as I can after the auction and I will keep you informed on the progress.

Due to the cost of producing the sleeve & booklets, there is a high starting price.

One important note to make - the stereo on the vinyl is reversed.

I have no idea how or why this happened.
When I ?rst had them pressed I did not have a working turntable and so was not aware of this fact until sometime later.
Obviously, at the time there would only have been a few original LPs and cassette copies to compare them to, so no one would have been any the wiser.
Also I have noticied when checking out a few LPs (as I make the albums up, it is the first time the records have been out of their original sleeves/inners since 1990) that some of the labels on side 2 have slight cracks to one degree or another. I have included a photo to show what I mean, although this is about the worst exanple.

The LP will be sent Recorded Delivery and insured. I am making a £9.50 dispatch charge for delivery within the UK or £25 for Worldwide delivery.
If the charge is less, a refund for the difference will be sent.
Anything above will be absorbed.

The LPs are the genuine 'First Repress of Dark Round The Edges' from 1990 and probably the nearest most will get to owning an original DRTE - including ME!
