It would be fair to say that Donato Dozzy's contribution to the "One Instrument Sessions" series is something of a psychedelic, brain-melting affair. Running to 38 minutes in two side-long parts, "Slow Train" is the result of a one-night encounter the Italian had with an EMS Synthi AKS - a rare, valuable, portable modular synthesizer that would now set you back well over L15,000. Musically the piece is wonderfully atmospheric, fluid and trippy, moving between slowly shifting electronic movements, starburst sounds and becalmed ambient chords. It was recorded as live in one go, with all the sounds you hear the result of real-time manipulation of the Synthi's unique control system, and you really can tell. It's definitely one for vintage synthesizer lovers everywhere to absorb and enjoy.
