A generally decent copy of the second of the Sects three Columbia albums, it contains the singles 'I Got Mine' and the moody, majestic 'Bad Storm Coming' and has been credited with being the earliest 'Country Rock' LP. This 1st pressing comes with a classic EMI 'flipback' cover, very clean labels and it's original 'greaseproof' inner sleeve,
The disc looks and plays excellently, with loud, clear, distortion-free reproduction and little surface noise aside from an audible mark on 'Little Play Soldiers'. This occurs in the middle of the track for 35 seconds or so, and miraculously is completely in beat with the snare drum for much of it's duration making it less intrusive. It is nonetheless a noticeable click and prevents me from grading the album as excellent.
Both labels are clean and bright with only minimal spindle marks. The front cover is a solid VG+ with only minor creases around the edges and no splits or tears. The top left hand corner is a little dented and there is some laminate damage to the bottom 5mm. It is otherwise pretty clean and certainly intact. The back cover, typically, shows more signs of wear (see photo) with a faded light brown, 1" stain running down from the title print. The letters 'D I' are stamped in fading lilac under the catalogue number. There is also light creasing and some darkening to the top left hand corner but there are no tears and the three flaps are in great condition.
All in all a good, sturdy copy of this rare LP. It won't suit a perfectionist, but I've seen far more battered copies graded 'Excellent'. I consider it a solid VG+.
