ARTIST: DORRIS HENDERSON & JOHN RENBOURN

TITLE: THERE YOU GO

LABEL: COLUMBIA SX6001

This is a very rare UK original by the US black folkie, Dorris Henderson and John Renbourn (his first appearnace on vinyl). This copy is difficult to grade because the sound quality is basically almost pristine with no jumps, no sticks and no hiss or crackle and definitely no upper register distortion. Henderson's voice is as clear as a bell throughout. However it is seriously marred by two careless marks, one on each side which cause clicking over a lot of the LP. This didn't bother me because I bought it to convert to digital files and in the process I have meticulously removed all the clicks leaving a near perfect sound. I will include a CD with the MP3 files on so that the winning bidder can use it with their iPod or convert it to use as an audio CD using file converter software which is free on the internet.

So bearing in mind the above I guess on the Record Collector scale of things you have to say the vinyl was good and the cover VG to VG+. You could play the LP and still appreciate the soaring vocals and inventive guitar backing so its more than a collection filler but sadly not the excellent copy it would have been without those careless marks.

Please note that unless the play quality is specifically mentioned records are graded visually. I aim to describe the visual appearance of all items accurately using the standards below which are based on the UK Record Collector Price Guide. The highest grade I use now is NEAR MINT ('UNPLAYED' if still sealed in shrink wrap or occasionally full MINT but only if the provenance of the item suggests this to be correct). Records graded EX+ or EX++ would probably be called 'near mint' or 'mint' by most sellers. Please READ THE ITEM DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY and study photographs to avoid disappointment later. I will refund only on items which do not conform to the description and standards set out here.

GRADING SYSTEM

NEAR MINT: The record appears to be in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and other inserts are perfect. For MINT grading see above

EXCELLENT: The item has been played and may have some light surface marks but there is very little, if any, lessening in sound quality. Cover and contents have slight wear.

VERY GOOD: The record has been played quite alot but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Cover and contents show some wear.

GOOD:The record has been played many times and the sound quality has deteriorated noticeably. The cover and contents are often damaged.

I use EX++,EX+,VG++,VG+ as subsidiary gradings. Unless the record is extremely rare I do not sell items which are less than VG in condition.
