DON THOMPSON "JUPITER" (U.S.KORONA) 1976 SECOND ISSUE A YEAR LATER AFTER THE SUNDAY PRESS.

Acoustic guitar driven folk/rock, mixed with some slightly harder mat'l. I found the softer folk/rock had a mystical aura, along with some mild psych influences, The album is quite consistent though. The album was reissued on Karona only a year after the original issue, on Sunday Records. Perhaps it was discovered there was far greater interest than originally anticipated with the Sunday issue, but for unknown reasons, Sunday was not available to reissue it. This rare private offering seemed to be a fairly ambitious effort by SSW Mr. Thompson, even down to the album packaging – a colorful textured thick gatefold jacket accompanied by an artful foldout insert. The backing sounds, instrumentation and percussion (synth, sound effects, echoing, etc.) ensure there’s an additional interest level during Jupiter’s SSW odyssey. A good example of this is on the closing title song, where there’s subtle synth effects sprinkled throughout. It’s not boring, like so many others from this time period.
