D.O.A.

Ground zero for Canadian punk rock, D.O.A. continue to make an impact with their hilarious,

political hardcore. It wasn't long before punk rock expanded beyond just New York City,

London, and Los Angeles during the mid- to late '70s, as evidenced by the emergence

of the long-running Vancouver, Canada-based outfit D.O.A. Originally formed in 1978,

D.O.A. have been led from the beginning by singer/guitarist Joe Keithley (aka Joey Shithead),

joined by a wide variety of other bandmates through the years (including future

Black Flag/Danzig/Social Distortion drummer Chuck Biscuits), although guitarist

Dave Gregg was present for much of the hijinks up until 1990

Something Better Change features a trio so molten, they didn't even manage to get it all down in the studio.

And yet it still is an absolutely awesome record. So heavy with chops it nearly leaks,

soaring like the best Clash/Pistols/S.L.F. riffs filtered through an American anvil power

even those greats couldn't approach. On the faster cuts, DOA just turn the aggression

up several notches. And on the slower cuts they prove themselves as much a strong,

fiery, spit-a-flyin' rock & roll band as they are a punk one...(AllMusic)
