Description

PLEASE NOTE: I NO LONGER SHIP TO ITALY (SEE NOTE BELOW)

ATTENTION CANADIAN BIDDERS: YOUR SHIPPING RATES WILL BE LOWER THAN THE BLANKET “WORLDWIDE” RATE.  A single 7”EP costs only $2.50 US to mail to Canada and a single LP only costs $5.70 US so please disregard the higher International prices stated below- sorry for any confusion.

YEAR: 1983
LABEL: SST RECORDS
LABEL #: SST 017
MATRIX #: L-13418

VINYL CONDITION: VERY GOOD?
SLEEVE CONDITION: (VERY GOOD)-
INSERT CONDITION: (EXCELLENT)-

THE DICKS are legendary, especially for the amazing vocals of signer GARY FLOYD.  This LP was their 1st full-length and has some of their best songs IMHO like the spectacular and angry anthem “Rich Daddy”.  This LP was released on SST RECORDS, famously the home of nearly all BLACK FLAG records, and was even produced by SPOT.  It is also one of THE RAREST releases on the label (maybe only 1,000 pressed?), right up there with the much sought-after STAINS LP.  Apparently, one of the reasons this LP is so rare and was never officially released by SST is because the master tapes were lost.  This copy I am selling is an SST ORIGINAL, with insert.

I acquired this copy many years ago and it has been stored vertically in my personal collection since then.  I have only played it 7-8 times since I have owned it (including once to grade it here for sale).  Given that it originated with a station, the sleeve has a small diagonal cut corner that is only 1 inch long x ½ inch wide as well as some corner wear, scuffing and spine wear.  As well, there are 4 letters written twice on the front of the sleeve with a ball-point pen and a marker- the one measures 2 inches x 4 inches while the other measures 3 inches x 1 ¼ inches. The back of the sleeve has 1 small note written in ball-point pen at the top about the band that measures only ½ inch wide x 1 ½ inches long.  As well, there is a very small amount of writing next to the last song, Track 12.  But there are NO seam splits and NO tears on the sleeve.  Just want to detail everything about the sleeve so there are no surprises for you, the potential future owner of this RARE LP.

The vinyl has some noticeable surface noise, and is hard to hear during the actual songs- it is mostly heard in the run-in/run-out grooves on each side and during the “dead space” between songs.  Overall, Side 2 is cleaner than Side 1 and has much less detectable surface noise.  There are a handful of very quick vinyl “pops”- 1 in the first 10 seconds of Track 3 / 1 at beginning of Track 10 and 1 at end of Track 10 / 1 on Track 11 / 2 on Track 12.  Visually, there is some scuffing on both sides and some joker (not me) wrote 4 letters on Side 1.  Please note that the 4 letters DO NOT cause any skips or anything.  Both labels have 4 small letters written on them- on Side 1 it was written with a red, ball-point pen and only measures ¾ inch x 1 ¼ inches.  On Side 2 it was written with a red magic marker and also only measures ¾ inch x 1 ¼ inches.

Also comes with the ORIGINAL, two-sided insert that measures 10 inches x 10 inches.  One side of the insert has lyrics to most of the songs.  The other side of the insert has photos of the band as well as some artwork.  The insert still has very sharp corners and is still in VERY CLEAN condition aside from 2 small rumples and 1 very very tiny dot of red ink on the photo/artwork side.

THE FINE PRINT
GRADING

For all of the used vinyl that I sell, I record a copy onto my computer and analyze this rip with my sound editing software- I have found it to be a great way to find any issues, imperfections, etc. that may stand out (rather than just putting on the headphones and listening to a record the “old fashioned” way).  I try my best to be as accurate and honest as possible about vinyl condition in my item descriptions.  Please also know that my house is a smoke free environment.

BIDDERS
Here are a few stipulations that I have been forced to set up with my auctions.  First- due to previous headaches I have had with “new eBay members”, you CANNOT bid on my auctions if your feedback rating is less than less than 0, if you have 2 or more unpaid item strikes within the last 30 days, and if you have 4 or more eBay policy violations within the past month.

SHIPPING
I NO LONGER SHIP TO ITALY
: I have also had too many headaches and problems shipping items to Italy (it’s been said for years that they unfortunately have the worst Postal Service in the world, and I now see why).  So sorry potential Italian bidders, but no can do.

Payment is preferred through PayPal and is due within 5 days after the auction ends (my auctions always begin/end on a Sunday so therefore payment must be received the following Friday).  Postage prices are the responsibility of the winning bidder of course.  Within the United States record will be shipped by either Media Mail or Priority Mail (your choice).  For international, non-U.S. bidders this record will be shipped via USPS First Class Mail International.  Please also note that most times, I provide SAME DAY shipping once your payment clears.

ATTENTION CANADIAN BIDDERS:  Your shipping rates will be lower than the flat International rate in the below table.  A 7”EP costs only $2.50 US to mail to Canada and an LP only costs $5.70 US so please disregard the higher International prices stated below- sorry for any confusion.

I DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MAKE EXTRA MONEY FROM SHIPPING COSTS like some other sellers try to.  It honestly costs $6 to mail a 7” to most of the world from the U.S. and an LP honestly costs $12 to mail to most of the world.  An LP costs twice as much as a 7” because- all packaged up properly and securely- an LP weighs over 1 lb. and as soon as packages are above 1 lb., the Postal prices nearly double unfortunately.  As stated in the previous paragraph, Canadian shipping rates are lower but the automatic postage calculator lumps Canada in with the rest of the world since it is not in the U.S.  Canadian bidders- sorry for any confusion!  E-mail me with any shipping questions you may have.

SHIPPING DISCOUNTS WILL BE APPLIED FOR WINNERS OF MULTIPLE ITEMS THAT END ON THE SAME DAY!  If you win multiple items from me on the same day, I will send you an invoice after the auctions end with this shipping discount reflected in that invoice.  I also usually provide shipping discounts if you are a returning customer.  Severe shipping discounts are provided by my determination if the final bid is rather high and over a certain amount. Again, if this is the case I will send you an invoice after the end of the auction that reflects this shipping discount.

And please note that when I ship records, I take great care to make sure the record is packaged properly- I always separate the picture sleeve from the vinyl and secure them tightly and securely with plenty of cardboard to prevent any damage that could happen in transit.  As reflected in my feedback, most of my customers comment on how well I package sold items.

On Jul-22-08 at 07:57:27 PDT, seller added the following information:

Whoops!  In the first paragraph of the item description, I meant to say this LP "was never officially REreleased by SST" instead of saying just "released".  Sorry for any confusion this may have caused.
