Description
Like most labels, Atlantic Records sent out promotional copies of their records to radio stations. A very small percentage of those albums were monaural pressings, now coveted by collectors and music fans alike. Mono commercial issues of most albums (at least those recorded in stereo) were phased out by 1968, and now these promo-only monaural versions are even harder to find.
Original promo-only mono pressing of Derek And The Dominos classic album Layla. This is a 2-record set, white label issue on the Atlantic-distributed Atco 2-702.
White label records are VG+. Side 1 has some surface noise, noticeable mostly during the quieter parts. The other 3 side are pretty clean. There are no real scratches and it's very listenable.
Gatefold cover is a stock stereo one with 2 stickers: 1 listing the album title, artist and group members, the other noting it's monaural and promotional. The cover is pretty rough, with split seams across most of the bottoms and part of the tops. There is tape residue across the bottoms and general rub and ring wear. (It might be possible to remove the promo sticker and attach it to a clean, vintage cover.)
