Another from my personal collection of over 50,000 albums that I have aquired over a period of more than 45 years! An awesome original 1st UK Pressing Deep Purple Live at the Royal Albert Hall.

Barely ever played at all, perhapes once or twice only. Features a factory sample sticker on the label side two.

This vinyl is the original very thick and chunky type and free from any warping. On inspection this vinyl looks absolutely stunning near mint with no scratches. Any marks that could possibly be seen would be sleeve removal only. A beautiful sounding copy rich and very vibrant only found like this on the earliest pressings!!  This is complete with the original UK Garrod & Lofthouse Printed laminated front only gatefold cover in very straight condition also. Normally this album is found in a terrible state looking very worn, but this cover is strong and straight and on initial inspection looks Excellent plus, Super glossy laminate. Very, very hard to ever find like this after over 50 years. A beautiful looking Archive copy.

Concerto for Group and Orchestra is a live album by Deep Purple and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Malcolm Arnold, recorded at the Royal Albert Hall, London, in September 1969.

It consists of a concerto composed by Jon Lord, with lyrics written by Ian Gillan.

It was released on vinyl in December 1969.

The original performance included three additional Deep Purple songs, "Hush", "Wring That Neck", and "Child in Time"; these were included on a 2002 release.

This was the Deep Purple album distributed in the US by Tetragrammaton Records, which went defunct shortly after.

The 1969 performance was among the first combinations of rock music with a full orchestra, predating works such as Procol Harum Live: In Concert with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra (1972), Rick Wakeman's Journey to the Centre of the Earth (1974), Caravan and the New Symphonia (1974), Roger Waters' The Wall – Live in Berlin performance (1990), Metallica's S&M concert (1999) and Stewart Copeland's Orchestralli (2004).

The original score for the concerto was lost in 1970; however, it was performed again in 1999 with a recreated score, and has been performed several times since.

Original 1969 Royal Albert Hall performance The piece was first performed and recorded on 24 September 1969 in the Royal Albert Hall, London, by Deep Purple and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Malcolm Arnold

The programme consisted of:

• 1st Movement: Energico (9:19)
• 2nd Movement: Lento (8:52)
• 3rd Movement: Con Fuoco (7:02)) The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra 25:13
2. "Hush" (Joe South) Deep Purple 4:42
3. "Wring That Neck" (Ritchie Blackmore, Nick Simper, Jon Lord, Ian Paice) Deep Purple 13:23
4. "Child in Time" (Blackmore, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Lord, Paice) Deep Purple 12:06

The Matrix:

(Earliest possible for this pressing)
Side 1″SHVL 767 A-1″
Side 2″SHVL 767 B-1″

The Mother Stampers:
Side 1 “3” “OA”
Side 2 “1” “PM” (1to1 Mother Stampers)

The Vinyl:
This is the original thick heavier chunky slab of vinyl only found like this on the earliest pressings. On visual inspection I can’t see any needle scratches or indeed any marks that would cause any clicks or pops. Any marks that could possibly be seen anglerd in strong light would be light whyspy sleeve removal type only. The playing surface is lovely.

The Audio Quality:
I have played this vinyl at very loud volume prior to this listing on a top system.  The audio is cristal clear and vibrant through out no distortion or any signs of groove wear at all. I heard no clicks or pops during the play of this vinyl. Lovely sounding copy. Audio graded at least excellent plus to near mint in my opinion.

The Labels:
These are the original Harvest Labels:
1st pressing featureing EMI on the labels and “The Gramophone Co……” rim test (Only 1st UK Press) Also features a Factory sample sticker on side two of the labels.
Any spidering can barely be seen angled to the light and there is little if no spindle wear the hole is perfectly round. This has obviously only had very minimal play in my opinion. Looks totally superb!

The Record Sleeve:
This is the original plain white paper record sleeve light creasing, browning, becoming fragile with age at the edges only.

The Cover:
This is the original 1st issue Garrod & Lofthouse  laminated front only gate fold cover. There are no nasty creases on the front to mention this is nice and straight as it should be. no edge splits or tares. The rear is also lovely there is a slight vinyl indentation noticed only if looked for.  I would grade this at least excellent  in my opinion.

A highly collectable and very playable copy!
