DEEP PURPLE

“CONCERTO FOR GROUP AND ORCHESTRA”

AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL

WITH THE ROYAL PHILARMONIC ORCHESTRA

COMPOSSED BY JON LORD

CONDUCTED BY MALCOLM ARNOLD

MEGARARE and HARD-TO-FIND original very first STEREO DEEP PURPLE’s “CONCERTO FOR GROUP AND ORCHESTRA” press released in Chile in 1982 by EMI ODEON CHILENA S.A. (Odeon Records), licensed from EMI Records Ltda. 1970, with yellow/green Harvest Records labels, catalog number 5283 CH, matrix numbers  SHVL-767-A-CH in Side A and SHVL-767-B-CH in Side B. Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND!!! This is one of the rarest LP’s by Deep Purple released here in Chile, not seen so often, a rarity!!!

“CONCERTO FOR GROUP AND ORCHESTRA” was originally released in 1969 in USA and in 1970 in UK but we have to wait in Chile until 1982 (!!!) to see this masterpiece album released here (licensed from Harvest/EMI UK). About this is interesting to know that in Chile companies pressed the records here in Chile until 1981, the year the last factory was closed, so this is one of the first releases for Chilean market with records pressed in Argentina. And we got it like many cases of that period with and UNIQUE COVER, respecting the Chilean format!!! Yes!!! In Chile it’s a flipback cover made with 2 single pieces of cardboard, with front cover pasted in the flips. Front and back covers are unlaminated and keeps the original artwork but back cover is different, it’s black and white coloured with all text and credits in Spanish only, with EMI logo and catalog number at top right corner and at the bottom it’s written in Spanish: “Marca Registrada. Distribuido por EMI Odeon Chilena S.A. Santiago Chile – Fabricado por EMI-ODEON SAIC – Industria Argentina” (Trademark. Distributed by EMI Odeon Chile S.A. Santiago Chile – Made by EMI-ODEON SAIC – Argentinian Industry). In labels it’s also informed the record is made in Argentina for distribution in Chile, that you can also confirm with the catalog and matrix numbers ending with “CH”.

The cover was already described and it’s in VG- or VG condition, clean, no missing parts, no writings, but evident creases, ring marks, and wear in edges and corners, at the spine edge is a tape, I guess some past owner repaired and did a very good work because it keeps firm. The record is in superb VG+ or even EX- condition, glossy, clean, with only light scratches and hairlines and soft scuffs which don’t affect sound at all. Labels on both sides are in NM or NM+ condition, clean and clear but in Side 2 it’s a black blob which’s a factory blob. The sound is great!!! It’s in superb EX- or EX condition both sides, clear, loud, no background noise (background noise was normal in most of records pressed in Chile), only some soft pops and some very light crackles here and there, which don’t distract at all from the great sound of this album, most of the record plays in NM condition. Overall a MEGARARE record with not the best cover but in still an amazing condition, with still a good look and an incredible sound after almost 30 years!!!

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.

IMPORTANT TO READ
