Deep Purple's Wandel von einer erfolgreichen Band mit ersten Chart-Erfolgen zu Giganten des Rock's, wurde in den Jahren 1968-1970 in diesen fesselnden Session-Aufnahmen des Radiosenders BBC dokumentiert.
Aufgrund der damals tückischen Aufnahmebedingungen bei den Sessions ist die Qualität an emanchen Stellen nicht perfekt, dennoch handelt es sich um zahlreiche faszinierenden Performances, davon viele Liveaufnahmen im Studio und Interviews. Deep Purple begeisterte dabei das Publikum mit ihren exzellenten Livequalitäten. Für erfahrene Fans ist die damalige Sessions-Version des Klassikers “Child In Time” bei weitem intensiver und besser als die Studio-Version. Dies belegt nur , wie wichtig diese Aufnahmen für die Deep Purple-Geschichte, ihre Fans und  für die Rockmusik ist. Weiterhin gibt es interessante Versionen von „Hush“, „Speed King“ oder zum Beispiel „Black Night“.
