Regular classical collectors will recognise my name as a consistent and reliable seller.

Primarily a collector, the proceeds go towards my own collection. As my normal employment is still affected by circumstances beyond anybody’s control, I am listing a further collection, to keep myself occupied. Having come upon a huge collection recently, this will be some 800+ quality recordings, all new to my auctions, with no ‘relists’. There is a very large number of opera box-sets, many on Decca and HMV.

This particular collection is aimed at collectors and (in particular) dealers. There are a number of “marquee” stereo First Editions, as well as a lot of other diverse, rare and collectable recordings. There are a significant number of TAS-listed records, within all categories.

This is the start of my Opera/Vocal selection.

Starting with individual recordings, these will be followed by a huge selection of box-sets over the next three days.

My starting prices are all designed to ensure that everything sells. These will be the lowest starting prices on EBay, with very competitive postage costs. This is the perfect opportunity for dealers to restock, by buying a large number and saving massively on combined postage ?

I am not a “shop”, I am trying to clear space and raise funds to improve my own personal collection !

Presentation box-set of Richard Wagner's Ring Cycle - Der Ring des Nibelungen.

Recorded over a number of years from 1959 to 1968 by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Georg Solti.

The box is very substantial and is divided into 5 compartments:-

• ·        Das Rheingold with 3 LPs;
• ·        Gotterdammerung with 6 LPs;
• ·        Siegfreid with 5 LPs;
• ·        Die Walkure with 5 LPs
• ·        A final section is 3 LPs, containing a comprehensive guide to the leitmotifs (narrated by Deryck Cooke) of The Ring  plus 2 of Wagner's less well-known pieces.

·    Each section is accompanied by a large booklet containing the libretto, artists' biographies, a synopsis, pencil illustrations and some pictures.

·    The set appears to have been hardly used or played and all the LPs are without scratches. Sleeves are undamaged and bright.

·    The only slight damage is to the actual box and spines of each compartment – see photos ?

My descriptions are logical, simple and straightforward, as outlined – below:

Sleeve/Box: minimal blemishes

Excellent +                                                                                                                                                                    Vinyl only: one or two very light, non-sounding hairline marks.

Excellent                                                                                                                                                                           Vinyl: A few more hairline / light marks. Maybe the odd pop or crackle.                                                 Sleeve/Box: Starting to age, possible light stains, index no’s on rear, evidence of sticker being removed

Excellent-                                                                                                                                                                            Vinyl only: A few more hairline and light marks still. Maybe some light background noise/crackle with the occasional pop, and tick in places.

I will not list any vinyl falling beneath Excellent-

An occasional damaged sleeve may fall to Very Good.

Please rest-assured that all significantly visible marks are sound-checked and described accurately.

I try to keep my gradings as simple as possible. Nothing will be ‘mint’ because all these recordings are pre-owned.
