Description

THE NEXT DAY / Baby, It's Over - (Capitol 5666)  Out of Los Angeles, this 1966 release features the vocals of the girl who sang the voice of the young 'Baby Jane Hudson' in the 1962 thriller, 'Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?' starring Bette Davis and Joan Crawford.  Miss Burton also laid down her vocals in the 1962 novelty M~G~M 45 release entitled, 'Whatever Happened To Baby Jane' in which she shared lead vocals with Bette Davis herself.  Four years later in 1966, Miss Burton's voice is much more mature on this obscure, Spectoresque single.  Arranger, Perry Botkin Jr., arranged and co-produced both sides which were recorded at his studio of choice, Hollywood's Gold Star.  The studio's echo chamber is showcased on 'The Next Day', enhancing the tune's unusual starts, stops and jingle-jangly percussion.  The flip, 'Baby, It's Over' has become a Northern Soul pick.  The labels and vinyl of this disc are a stunning, flawless NM.
