DE LA SOUL - 3 Feet High And Rising First Pressing LP + Inner Excellent-Nr Mint . Condition is Used. Dispatched with Royal Mail 1st Class.
All for one small hairline the record would be graded higher. A great record. Looks glossy and with no marks or scratches. Hasn't been test played unfortunately.
Album Bio-
3 Feet High & Rising is consistently placed on lists of the greatest albums of all time by noted critics and publications, with Robert Christgau calling it "unlike any rap album you or anybody else has ever heard."
Significance-
It was selected by the Library of Congress as a 2010 addition to the National Recording Registry, which selects recordings annually that are culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.
Art Work-
The album's artwork was designed by Toby Mott's and Paul Spencer's radical British art collective the Grey Organisation (GO).
Mott describes the process of designing the album cover in his essay 'Hip Hop in The Daisy Age'. They photographed them whilst hanging precariously off a step ladder, one idea being that the cover would not have a right way up.
The intent of the design of the LP cover was to be new and bright, with the overlaying of the fluorescent flowers and text reflecting a synthetic pop cartoon look. This was a move away from the prevailing macho hip hop visual codes which dominate to this day"
Controversy-
De La is currently in a legal battle over not only 3 Feet High but the five albums that came after it (De La Soul Is Dead, Buhloone Mindstate, Stakes Is High, AOIx2), and they claim that Tom Silverman, CEO and founder of the Tommy Boy record label that released their first six albums, offered them a 90/10 split of the profits if he were to take their music to streaming services after reacquiring the albums from Warner Brothers. De La has criticised the deal as “unfair” on social media and have received support from Nas, Questlove (The Roots), and Pete Rock.
JAY-Z’s Tidal also released a statement saying the service wouldn’t stream De La’s early catalog until a deal was settled between the group and Tommy Boy. Therefore, the albums’ placement on streaming services such as Spotify and YouTube has been postponed.
