MEGA RARE SOUTH AFRICAN 2 TRACK 7" ACETATE

Welcome to an extremely rare record auction.

This auction is for a GENUINE one sided MONO 7" acetate featuring 2 tracks from David Bowie's 1967 debut Deram LP 'David Bowie'!! The tracks on this acetate are 'Love You Till Tuesday' and 'Rubber Band'!!

I guess this acetate was cut way back in 1967 by the Deram Record Co in South Africa for a possible single release. A date of 11 October 1967 is clearly stamped on both the Deram Company Sleeve and the label A-Side!!

As a result this is without doubt one of the rarest David Bowie pressings ever auctioned on Ebay. It really is a great looking reference disc especially as it's housed in an original (and dated) Deram Company Sleeve that is also stamped 'acetate'!!

This disc was part of a collection purchased from a man who had worked in the music industry overseas for many years. It is thought this disc was purchased as a job lot from Radio Oxford - as you can see the radio stickers still remain on both the company sleeve and label! Other than that I'm afraid I son't know much else about the history.

The record itself plays at 33RPM and is in absolutely fantastic condition for it's age! I'm grading it as being in EXCELLENT condition. The sleeve is also in Excellent condition!

There is no catalogue number on the label or on the run off groove although on the reverse of the disc is the following (as per scan 3):

Gallo Africa, David Bowie, FM-7467.

As you can see from scan 3 the B-Side does not show any vinyl but the ORIGINAL METAL PLATE!!!!

This is without a doubt one of the rarest David Bowie acetates in existence. Not only as it's from way back in 1967 (the golden Bowie era for rarities) but also because this one sided acetate with these tracks was never commercially issued in this format!!
