This recording was given "Special Merit" in the TAS (The Absolute Sound) magazine's Super
Disc List for performance and sound.
Was bought new by this seller many years ago and now sold from his private collection (you
have absolutely known provenance). Tracks had at most a couple of plays initially on an expertly
setup high-end audiophile turntable, arm, and cartridge. This record remained unplayed for a
long time as it was not in my regular rotation. Has never been exposed to heat or tobacco smoke
and always stored vertically in a specially designed record cabinet (Rackit) to prevent warpage.
All sides were cleaned on a VPI HW 16 with Audio Intelligent cleaning solution and an ultra-pure
water rinse (50 times purer than distilled water) before my pre-sale sound check.
Track list
A: Black is the Color, Noah's Dove, House of the Rising Sun, Ensam, Spritual Medley.
B: Motherless Children, Wade in the Water, My Lord What a Morning, Plant My Feet, Watfaring Stranger,
Sweeping Through the City, I Ain't Got Long, God Be With You.
Grading
Note: record grading by text characters is subjective and does not fully describe quality
levels. Please see photos and my detailed descriptions below.
Outer Jacket: Near Mint (NM) All I can notice is a gentle small crease in the upper left corner. Has
bright color with zero discoloration or age yellowing. Spine and all edges are perfect.
Vinyl: Mint Minus (M-) Minus is only because both labels have LAST vinyl preservative stickers.
The LAST preservative was applied before very first original play. Surface visuals are glossy deep
luster with no scratches or scuffing as inspected under high intensity halogen light. All songs were
listened to with Sennheiser HD 600 headphones thru a Schiit Audio Valhalla 2 tube headphone amp
fitted with Voskhod Soviet matched tubes. They had the clarity of a first-played virgin record. There is
some spectacular percussion on "House of the Rising Sun" for example. This is an exceptionally
quiet pressing and there is impressive dynamic range. Any audible groove noise is only what was
contained in the original manufactured pressing. None has been added by playing or handling.
Packaging
Record will be placed outside the jacket to protect against seam splitting.
Original inner sleeve is included separately.
Record has been placed into a new "rice paper" Master style sleeve because the original
inner sleeve is paper. This will reduce paper dust buildup on the vinyl surface during shipping.
Outer jacket is contained in a new clear polyethylene protective sleeve.
Sent in good quality record mailer with cardboard stiffeners.
Shipping
Shipping will be via USPS Media Mail for a flat charge of $4.50
(save on offshore shipping charges because the item is in the US and not Europe))
