Description
Rare White Label Beatles Test Pressing A Side Cry For A Shadow Beatles B Side Why ? Tony Sheridan :- With The Beatles Polydor, Whilst originally recorded 22/06/1961 in Germany this version is the UK Re-Release of 27th March 1964 when Polydor decided to capitalise on the success of The Beatles by changing the A Side to The Beatles Cry For A Shadow written by Harrison + Lennon, This 45 RPM White Label Test Pressing Record was formally owned by Winifred Atwell (1914-1983) consigned to Auction in Dec 2022 by a former BBC Employee who Winifred Atwell left her Record Collection with, Sold in December 2022 by Wessex Auctions as Lot 16A Est £400-£600 for Hammer £400 (£488 with Commission) By chance a few years back I found the earliest 1958 Privately Pressed 78RPM Acetate of Why Can`t You Love Me Again Bill Crompton + Tony Sheridan, Sample Record Not For Sale after owning it for a few years I sold it to Hans Olof Gottfridsson the Worlds Leading Expert on Sheridan who wrote the main Book "From Cavern to Star Club" Premium Publishing 1997 ,he went on to write a Four Page Article about the Record for Record Collector Magazine January 2023 crediting me at the end of the piece, In 1959 the Record Why ? was due to come out on Top Rank Records as a Single there`s an Article in Melody Maker at the time announcing the release but this never happened most likely because Sheridan upset Top Rank in some way, Whether Atwell was considering Recording the song Why ? I don`t know but she ended up with this UK 1964 White Label Test Pressing Matrix Numbers are NH 52275 A= 1 1 + NH52275 ( Triangle ) B 1 1, Yvonne is written to sleeve + label , Pencil Polydor + ? after Why in Blue Fountain Pen Ink, I show the magazine article on the earlier 1958 Privately Pressed 78RPM Acetate in my photos just for information purposes, Posting Immediate
